The International Service Committee is reviving the Friday night international nosh with Thai at the Elephant and Tusk restaurant in Thomson Street, Belmont on Friday 27 May from 6.30 pm. It's BYO wine and mains are around $20.00.
Then on 22 July, we're off to Italy at Cucina One12, 112 High Street, Belmont.

President Andrew advised that Keith Dawson is on the sick list and would appreciate calls from members.
We all send our best to Keith.
Keith is looking for support through a Rotarian taking on the frontline role in the Emergency Markers Project whilst he is “on the mend”.
If you can step in, please give Keith a call and he will give you the “ins and outs”.
Swap Meet - 14 May
Adrian and John are again looking for support from members, families and friends for this Hamburger Stand annual event between 8.00 am and 2.00 pm which can boost our charitable resources by between $3,500.00 and $4,000.00.
Another 5 or 6 persons per shift would be appreciated and particularly those who are cooking-capable. The roster will be circulated at our 10 May meeting.
Eastern Hub Bub
Regarding the Eastern Hub venue, President Andrew reported that the Eastern Hub can accommodate our Club for a minimum 20 people weekly with two courses for $22.00 and $3.00 for tea and coffee.
This is against the current $23.00 per head which we are paying for one course with free coffee at Buckleys.
The Eastern Hub facility can accommodate 140 persons.
There was general discussion on the issue and it was the general view that the Club should try the Eastern Hub facility to be able to assess its merits relative to our current venue so we will trial the Eastern Hub for the month of June and try both the single and two course options.
Entertainment Books - More than a Night Out
Whether you take the Book or the digital option, the EBs of which Graeme and Tony have so far sold 50 through the Club provide discounts for travel as well as food and the Club gets a tidy sum for each EB sold.
The Last for Luca
It is Luca’s last meeting with our Club on 10 May.
We have enjoyed having Luca with us and we wish him well with his further studies and look forward to seeing him again soon.
News from the PE Department
President Elect Janine reported on the very excellent District Assembly which was well attended by our Club members and members are also encouraged to support the “No Ball Ball” for the Eastern Hub.

The Preserve Plant Earth (PPE) District Committee is looking for a representative from each club to promote the various PPE projects throughout the year and Sue Hill has further details.

Monday 30 May is Our Fifth Monday and all are welcome to assist with the Christ Church Meals project with further details available from Jenny.
International Rules Merchandise
Robert Wheeler, through his son in law Mark Evans at the AFL, has managed to secure a quantity of AFL International Rules clothing which can be purchased at very competitive prices with all proceeds going to support Shelter Box.

International Night
The International Night is on the 31st of May. The theme will be Cambodia. The event will be at Buckleys. There will be a Cambodian contribution to the meal by Angela and Bryan to give some Khmer flavour. There will also be a take home gift for all attendees from Cambodia. Members are encouraged to invite partners, family, friends and prospective Rotarians to the event. The guest speaker for the night will be Bryan with assistance from Angela.
Cambodian Water Project Report - Progressing to a Global Grant
The District Grant for water wells has been completed with an indication that the district contribution to the club will be forthcoming in the near future. The club has received notification of approval.
The planning for a Global Grant for a water project in Pursat Province of Cambodia has been proceeding:
1. Bryan was guest speaker at Phnom Penh Rotary Club last week. The talk was well received. Two guests present at the meeting were experts in the delivery of clean water and gave some very good advice on a range of options.
2. Bryan met with the Program Manager of CAFOD (a catholic English based International NGO) and they are interested in joining the project funding complementary aspects such as health and hygiene programs.
3. Bryan met with the regional program manager of AFAP, Action for Poverty, an Australian NGO, who have extensive experience with water projects in Vietnam. They are also a possible partner in the project as well.
4. Bryan met with the Director of the Cambodian Organisation for Children and Development to discuss further aspects of the proposed project 5. Our Geelong fundraiser last month will probably have around $1500 for the water project (we raised $5900 and the balance will go to the women s shelter in Siem Reap).
6 Bryan is contacting District clubs this week, starting with the list of interested clubs from the District Conference, and then all other clubs in the District. Contact will also be made with other clubs internationally and nationally where there is a personal contact. The aim is to be the guest speaker at as many clubs as possible and gain commitment to be part of the Global Grant project.
Science and Engineering Challenge Report from Tony Alsop
Thank you all for your help and support. Both days went well and I am sure we have provided a little insight and encouragement to the 350+ students that participated into science & engineering. Not only have we provided service under the Avenue of Youth but also Vocation and Community. We also promoted Rotary to teachers and parents as well as staff at Deakin.

Changes Over
I think this is the plural of Change Over...like Presidents Elect....and this is the season for both.
The District Change Over will be held on Sunday 26 June at Truffleduck, 66 Hyland Street, Fyansford 12.15 pm for 12.30 pm. with bookings required by 16 June. DG Jane Cox has more details.
The Rotary Club of Ocean Grove are changing over on Tuesday 28 June 6.30 pm for 7.00 pm at the Ocean Grove Bowls Club, 18 The Terrace, Ocean Grove.
The cost is $35.00 per person for a 2 course meal with drinks at bar prices.
