Dining with Dorothy
The International Service Committee is reviving the Friday night international nosh with Thai at the Elephant and Tusk restaurant in Thomson Street, Belmont on Friday 27 May from 6.30 pm. It's BYO wine and mains are around $20.00.
Then on 22 July, we're off to Italy at Cucina One12, 112 High Street, Belmont.

Meeting at Encompass
Tomorrow's meeting (Tuesday 3 May) will be at Encompass, 400 Pakington Street (the river end) on the Rutland Street corner with a 6.00 pm for 6.30 pm start. Catering will be supplied by Dial A Lunch.
Dressing warmly is recommended.
Twenty years of Rotary service - Dorothy Sinclair
President Andrew presented Dorothy with a plaque in recognition of her 20 years of Rotary service. Dorothy has served Rotary and our Club over 2 decades through a wide range of positions on the Board, as Club Welfare Officer and as a leading light in organising and promoting Club fellowship activities. Congratulations and well done, Dorothy!
Swap Meet - 14 May
Adrian and John are again looking for support from members, families and friends for this Hamburger Stand annual event between 8.00 am and 2.00 pm which can boost our charitable resources by between $3,500.00 and $4,000.00.
Entertainment Books - More than a Night Out
Whether you take the Book or the digital option, the EBs of which Graeme and Tony have so far sold 50 through the Club provide discounts for travel as well as food and the Club gets a tidy sum for each EB sold.
Great PR from free snags
Adrian reported on the positive public profile generated for our Club by the activities of our Sausage Squad which belted out bangers on mass for those inspecting the Eastern Hub at the public open day recently.
We are indebted to the Rotarians who helped out and our wonderfully generous friends at Redi-Cut Vegies and Porter Avenue Hot Bread who donated products for the event.
International Rules Merchandise
Robert Wheeler, through his son in law Mark Evans at the AFL, has managed to secure a quantity of AFL International Rules clothing which can be purchased at very competitive prices with all proceeds going to support Shelter Box.

District Assembly - Stawell – 1 May
Our Club was represented by 10 of our members – PE Janine, incoming Club Secretary Jenny, Sues x 3 (Beretta, Hill and Dunlop), Terry Thornton, David Sykes, James Dunlop, Warren and Peter Gillham.
A great day of Rotary friendship, fun and learning with many new faces.
Our incoming District Governor Stephen Lamont encouraged us to Be Bold ( his District Conference theme for 2017 which will be held in Geelong 31 March -1 April next year) in spreading the message of Rotary and the joys and fulfilment which membership of and service through Rotary brings.
We were reminded that a vision without action is just a daydream and action without vision can be a nightmare!
For Rotary to remain relevant, Rotary must adapt and change. Changes to the RI rules effective 1 July (see report below) will give clubs the tools to adapt their club processes to be relevant and atrractive to our current and prospective members.
Club collaboration to achieve projects which benefit our communities is a powerful tool.
In the centenary year of The Rotary Foundation, it would be great if our District could say that all our clubs made a contribution to TRF of whatever amount.
Membership retention and growth is a task for us all. Our District membership has declined 10% over the last 4 years.
We have a number of core District projects which we wish to achieve and by increasing membership the load is spread.
District Leadership Team 2016-2017 was introduced which demonstrates a wide range of experience and enthusiasm.
DG Stephen will be visiting our Club on 11 October.
Don Shields our District Insurance officer and risk management officer spoke about risk management.

Ignoring risk management impacts adversely on the Club's reputation, the health and safely of members and the public, the Club's finances (paying the excess) and the District as a whole through higher premiums.
