Adrian Innes reminded us that 15 to 18 October is the Geelong Show and it will be all hands to the hamburgers as we Sizzle for Service and Fry in Friendship.
We need Working With Children Checks for contact with our Exchange students. The application is done on line at the Department of Justice website and you need a photo and 100 ID points.
Those members who have not as yet completed, signed and returned to the Club Secretary the Consent to Publication forms distributed in June are asked to do so.
We will be at The Davidson Restaurant for our third Tuesday committee meetings - three small courses for $30.00.

President Andrew read a letter of thanks from Newcomb Park Primary School for the iPads we provided to the school and President Andrew advised the Club of the receipt of a certificate regarding our 2 new sponsored Shelter Boxes which we can track on the ShelterBox.org website.

Rotaractive in our Community
Graham Thomson reported that he has been taking part in the driver training program with the Geelong Council called the L@P driving program and we were delighted to hear that our Rotaractors are assisting in this program - President Liz Fagan, Secretary Keeley Morris & Danni Brighton. President Liz has also called in to see John Birrell.
Jaffa Alert
Next Tuesday 1 September is Movies at Mary’s and as the movie will start at 7.00 the food will be ordered for 6.15 pm.
The venue is the St. Mary's Theatrette at the corner of Yarra Street and Little Myers Street which is across the road from the tall bluestone building with the very steep roof and the interesting windows.
Our Meeting on 8 September
We are really lucky to have Rach Brennan not only speaking about her tour of Europe, but she has agreed to serenade us with a few songs! Rach is a singer/songwriter and follows the traditions set by the likes of Joni Mitchell, Carole King with a hint of Kate Bush! She performs regularly around Victoria and South Australia and is just about to depart on her second tour of Europe.

Report – Rotary Leadership Institute
James Dunlop reported on the great time he has been having at Rotary Leadership Institute which is an examination of what Rotary is and does and how we can do it better . There was discussion about the Rotary world. It is the Rotary Club of Geelong East and not we members who are members of Rotary International. There was learning about the Rotary Foundation and about how membership can be enhanced and how a service project can be developed.
Remembering Membership
Bernadette advised us that August is Membership Month and we are encouraged to give thought to people who might make good members and invite them to a meeting.

We heard from RI President Ravi about the Rotary Global Rewards program.
Fundraising Report
Committee chair Sue Hill spoke on fundraising.
It is Friend-raising as well as fun-raising and all members need to toss in ideas for fundraising activities - afternoon teas, dinner auction, indigenous art show, music events.
The main event is our hamburger stand and we have about 170 positions to be filled 9.00 am to 9.00 pm 15 to 18 October.

PDG Eddie suggested that newer members look at the copies he is circulating of the report of the 2001 District Conference which our Club hosted....you can see how participation in Rotary keeps you young…..being 14 years younger makes you….look 14 years younger.
Youth Exchange
David Sykes referred members to the District Guidelines on Youth Exchange which is a very comprehensive and informative publication which Sue will circulate.
