Directors are asked to help Jenny by completing and submitting their report as soon as possible.
Rotary Foundation
The balance of member contributions for our Rotary Foundation were forwarded to Parramatta in the first week of June and our 35 members involved are currently receiving their tax receipts.
Total contributions were sent as follows:
To the Annual Programs Fund - $1,116 in February and $1,611 this month giving a total of $2,716.
To Polioplus - $1,449 in February and $1,441 this month giving a total of $2,890 (making a grand total of $5,606)
Add to the PolioPlus total of $2,890 the $1,600 member sponsorship for Ride the Bellarine and dedicated to PolioPlus and we end up with $4,490. When we add the $2 match from Bill and Melinda Gates for each $1 we have contributed we find PolioPlus has benefited to the extent of $13,470.
So members making personal contributions to The Rotary Foundation can take a well deserved bow.
Dinner Auction
David Sykes is looking for volunteers to request donations for the dinner auction.

• Working in pairs – a great chance for fellowship and support.

Volunteer Transport Program Meeting
Recently our Club was well represented at a thank you meeting from Barwon Health to acknowledge our support of the program and to disseminate information about the program. Our money has gone towards supporting the provision of “Rotary limousines” to transport patients to and from their medical appointments. The drivers (including our very own David Beretta) were acknowledged for their efforts that cover 364 days of the year.
Look out for these clearly marked cars with the Rotary wheel and the names of the ten supporting Clubs listed.
We have received a certificate of appreciation.

RJ Vague award recipient Jan McGowan was recently recognised in the Queen’s Birthday honours with an Order of Australia for service to the community through social welfare organisations.
Jan's service includes:

We are delighted that Jan's service has been acknowledged in this very special way.
Meetings at Eastern Hub in June
This is a reminder that for the month of June we will hold our weekly Club meetings at The Eastern Hub, 285A McKillop Street, East Geelong.
Because of the nature and size of the catering enterprise at The Eastern Hub, we will not have the same latitude with numbers attending as we have been enjoying with Buckleys.
It is therefore more important than ever that Rotarians call through their apologies and extra numbers attending by the midday Monday deadline.
The phone number for apologies and extras remains as before.
Also, any special dietary requirements need to be notified.
The meeting times are unchanged (6.00 pm for 6.30 pm) and there will be an induction at 6.15 pm (location of toilets, exits etc) on our first meeting there this coming Tuesday 7 June for those who would like to "know where to go to go".
For our trial month, we will sample an arrangement of a main course only and a two course meal (entrée and main, main and dessert) with finger food on one night.
The meal costs which members will pay will be $20.00 for the one course and $25.00 for the two course.
At the end of the month, the Club will review the experience at The Eastern Hub.
We will return to Buckleys for our Changeover.

Dining with Dorothy
The International Service Committee is reviving the Friday night international nosh with Italy at Cucina One12, 112 High Street, Belmont on 22 July.

Terry’s Tangles
Scarves donated from Cotton On will require some work to remove labels. Please stay tuned for details of the working bee.
These may not be resold, but are to be donated to people in need. Suggestions for who and how this can be done can be directed to the Community Committee.
Junior Community Award
This program is set to make an impact in our Primary Schools in the coming year.
RJ Vague Award
Three worthy nominations have been received and the committee is meeting to decide on the recipient and plan the presentation.
International Rules Merchandise
Robert Wheeler, through his son in law Mark Evans at the AFL, has managed to secure a quantity of AFL International Rules clothing which can be purchased at very competitive prices with all proceeds going to support Shelter Box.
Upcoming Fundraising Events
25 June - Catering for the equestrian equipment charity auction at the Geelong Showgrounds.
The proceeds will be going to Hope Bereavement Services.We need eight people to work there from 4.30 pm until about 9.00 pm.

Defying The Drift
The vigour and viability of rural communities is a subject close to the heart of our great friend and fellow member, Stan Deans and hence Stan's enthusiasm and commitment to the Defying the Drift program which takes place at Marcus Oldham Farm Management College over 3 days.
It is designed for Year 9 and 10 students to encourage interest in careers which have a rural focus - whether farming and agricultural, health, the environment, teaching, commerce etc.
Members are asked to promote the program and Stan can provide more information and application forms.
The cost is minimal ($150.00 per student) and the potential return on this investment is incalculable.
