Community Raffle 2015

2015 Community Raffle - Update - $6,800 + banked and over 330 books accounted for!

Friday was freezing with howling gales and snow on the hills - a real European experience for our brave crew ... but they were also sensible and preserved their health, so we were a bit down on sales this weekend.

Overtime pays off!

6 - 7pm paid off again on Saturday.  This was a worthwhile activity and if you would like to sit and chat on your way home from work on Friday or Saturday, please let us know.

Books issued to Rotarians - We have your address!

Please return the stubs and money for tickets sold as soon as possible.  It is too easy to put them aside and forget.
If you would like more tickets it can be easily arranged!

Roster until end of January

Thanks to the volunteers to date.  As you can see there are still vacancies.
Sales have been steady at all venues and every little bit helps!
If you can't make your shift, it is greatly appreciated if we know and if you can arrange a swap.  Happy to help if you need it.  Phone numbers are included to help you let your partner know.
If there is one name on the table below, partners are required.
Can you help?

Last Week's Program
Last Week's Program

The Bulletin Editor thanks PDG Eddie Loughnan and Sue Dunlop for their excellent reports (below):

DG Jane returned to complete the recognitions begun on 26 October of members receiving Sapphires from their own contributions to The Rotary Foundation with some exercising their right to name additional Paul Harris Fellows.

Those receiving Sapphires were Alan Backwell (one) George James (two) and Tony Alsop (two) with the latter recognising his Mother in Law Nancy Mawson.

Other members who had already been recognised with their first Sapphires were Michael Carroll, Anna Fletcher and Bill Pratt and  who named Glenda Carroll, Lyn Schofield and Janine Koch as Paul Harris Fellows respectively.

Foundation Chairman Jonathan reminded those present that the cumulative total of donations towards Sapphires that night as well as on 26 October was US$29,000

After DG Jane had completed the recognition of those with Sapphires and Paul Harris Fellows she congratulated Jonathan on becoming a Benefactor of the Rotary Foundation.  This status is achieved after advising the Foundation in writing that  provision has been made in one's will for a donation to the Permanent Fund of The Rotary Foundation.

After receiving his Benefactor's Badge and Crystal,  Jonathan explained that his eventual donation to the Permanent Fund would be invested in perpetuity with only the annual interest being spent on future programs of the Foundation.

Festive night full of fantastic decorations, great atmosphere and fun.  A credit to Allanah, Elaine, Robyn and other elves.

The evening was launched with sapphire splendour as DG Jane presented further Paul Harris Recognitions to worthy recipients.

Trivia
Challenging from classic literature to the launch of radio advertising in the USA as well as some more religious notes.  Great fun was had by all and Santa helped the winners clean up their act presenting them with brooms from the Geelong Brush Company.

Celebrity visit from Dame Edna – bearing gifts capped off the night while a hearty sing-a-long was enjoyed by all.  The 12 Days of Christmas set off some healthy competition but the rules were unclear whether it was volume, tunefulness or harmony, so all were winners on the night.

A great wind up to our meetings at Buckleys and whetting the appetite for more fellowship, fun and frolics at the Showgrounds on the 15th. Please let Allanah know if you are attending, with numbers if you have not done so already.
