The International Service Committee is reviving the Friday night international nosh with Thai at the Elephant and Tusk restaurant in Thomson Street, Belmont on Friday 27 May from 6.30 pm. It's BYO wine and mains are around $20.00.
Then on 22 July, we're off to Italy at Cucina One12, 112 High Street, Belmont.

Monday 30 May is Our Fifth Monday and all are welcome to assist with the Christ Church Meals project with further details available from Jenny.
International Rules Merchandise
Robert Wheeler, through his son in law Mark Evans at the AFL, has managed to secure a quantity of AFL International Rules clothing which can be purchased at very competitive prices with all proceeds going to support Shelter Box.

International Night
The International Night is on the 31st of May. The theme will be Cambodia. The event will be at Buckleys. There will be a Cambodian contribution to the meal by Angela and Bryan to give some Khmer flavour. There will also be a take home gift for all attendees from Cambodia. Members are encouraged to invite partners, family, friends and prospective Rotarians to the event. The guest speaker for the night will be Bryan with assistance from Angela.

Rotary Leadership Institute
This is a training program and resource for Rotarians who would like to know more about operating an efficient and productive club and getting more from the Rotary experience.
It is conducted over 3 separate days across the District and a number of our members can attest to the value of the program. See PE Janine for more information. Our Club will cover registration fees.
R.J. Vague Award
Members are invited to bring forward nominations for this award which recognises community service and honours the wonderful contribution to the Geelong community by our esteemed charter member, the late Bob Vague.

The Rotary Foundation
So we can get our donations to Parramatta in good time, members are asked to bring in the contents of their money boxes (pre-counted and bagged) by the meeting of 24 May.

Defying The Drift
The vigour and viability of rural communities is a subject close to the heart of our great friend and fellow member, Stan Deans and hence Stan's enthusiasm and commitment to the Defying the Drift program which takes place at Marcus Oldham Farm Management College over 3 days.
It is designed for Year 9 and 10 students to encourage interest in careers which have a rural focus - whether farming and agricultural, health, the environment, teaching, commerce etc.
Members are asked to promote the program and Stan can provide more information and application forms.
The cost is minimal ($150.00 per student) and the potential return on this investment is incalculable.
Ride The Bellarine Report
Assistant Governor Ross Taylor “came home” to give us the great news on results of the Ride The Bellarine event.
Our Club provided 20 volunteers, 4 riders and $1,400.00 in sponsorship and donations.
With 15 Rotary clubs participating in the project, RTB’s 300 riders and $17,000.00 in corporate sponsorship and $8,000.00 from individual donations and sponsorship with the magical Gates Foundation leveraging, resulted in $75,000.00 being added to the funds to End Polio Now.
We thank Ross for his excellent work on and commitment to this year's RTB and we look forward to RTB 2017 and the elimination of polio in our world.

End Polio News
The government of Canada is providing C$40 million over three years in support of Pakistan’s polio eradication program. The funds will help the World Health Organization and UNICEF interrupt transmission of the wild poliovirus in Pakistan. Canada is the fifth-highest per capita donor to polio eradication, with over C$500 million committed to date. It coordinates its efforts closely with Rotary, matching Rotarians’ contributions during fundraising campaigns.
All 155 countries and territories that currently use oral polio vaccine (OPV) were expected to switch from trivalent to bivalent OPV in their routine immunization programs between 17 April and 1 May. The switch will protect children from the risk, though extremely rare, of contracting vaccine derived poliovirus, and is a critical step toward ending the disease. OPV will be removed once all wild polioviruses are eradicated. The switch has been made possible by the dedication of health workers, governments, partners and donors, and their continued support will be essential to achieving a polio-free world.
Swap Meet Report
Adrian reported that on takings of $4,500.00, we made a profit for our charitable account of around $3,000.00. A great result thanks as always to the work of Adrian and JB as well as the members, families, Rotaractors and friends who donated their time and energy to make it happen.
