It was great to hear from our members James and Sue Dunlop who arrived in the port of Busan/Pusan in April. As part of a cultural tour, he had a chance to see cherry blossoms in bloom. According to James, this natural phenomenon is taken very seriously by Japanese and South Koreans, and there are even forecasters whose job is to tell local communities where and when the flowers are blooming. When asked the tour guide what else the forecasters did, the answer did was...nothing! The job is a very short-term contract, lasting from late March to early April only, just two weeks while the flowers are in bloom. Thanks to James for sending in this great photo so we could enjoy the sight as well.
