Story Dogs has had a busy first term of school, with Dog Teams starting back again. Warm fuzzies were everywhere, from the soft fur on dogs to the feelings from school staff and students! Story Dogs is now helping nearly 3,000 children every week - an incredible result. Geelong East Rotary has previously sponsored the Story Dogs program at Newcomb Primary School, helping reluctant readers to become confident, enjoy reading and improve their literacy skills. We look forward to continuing to work with Story Dogs.

Story Dogs welcomes two new Directors
Alex Green and Cherie Vendramini have joined Story Dogs as Board Directors, bringing the number of Directors to six.Alex is based in Sydney and has a background in leading not- for- profit organisations. He is CEO of two charities, a football coach, mentor and Club President. Alex brings a depth of experience in governance, innovation, leadership and stakeholder relations, amongst other things. Alex counts Benson, the cocker spaniel, as a member of his family (often his favourite!). Benson, along with a lifelong love of reading, and a desire to help people and see ambitious impactful organisations thrive, led him to Story Dogs.
Cherie is based in Melbourne and has experience as a lawyer and law lecturer. She currently holds a position as Legal Counsel with Hassell Ltd. She is a passionate dog owner, and currently has Duke the Doberman Pinscher. Cherie brings a new level of scrutiny to board discussions thanks to her keen legal-eagle eyes.
Did You Know?
89% of children (age 6-17) agree their favourite books are the ones they picked out themselves. One of the key roles of our volunteers is to empower the students we're helping to make the decision about which books they will read together each visit - with the help of doggos, of course!
